Katherine Town Council

CouncilConnect case study

An agreement between WALGA and LGANT enabled Katherine Town Council to become the first CouncilConnect subscriber in the Northern Territory.

As Katherine Town Council’s previous CMS was restrictive, the client was looking for a solution that provided the ability to edit and update content freely. The modular structure of SparkCMS is user friendly and allows the client to administer almost all areas of the website.

The modules implemented focused on providing the client with greater control, including the ability to edit the image rotator, quick links, mega menu, news items, events and all page centre content. The new website encourages greater interactivity with residents and rate payers, including three social media feeds on the landing page, the Community Consultations module, integration with MailChimp and the ability for community members to submit their own events to the Events Calendar.

Katherine Town Council was eager to implement the new website quickly. The entire website project from design, development and go live was achieved within a one month period. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Katherine Town Council was forced to close their Council offices and continue operations from home on short notice. Sudden urgency was placed on the website go live to ensure Council could continue to effectively serve their community. Working closely and efficiently with the client, Market Creations set the site live a day earlier than originally planned.
