2020 was a massive digital year with people around the world looking to the internet to feel connected during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Even more than usual, it was critical for local governments to keep their website up to date to help their communities stay informed on the latest updates and advice from the Australian Government as well as provide a resource for information regarding any impact on their localities.

Working with our CouncilConnect clients, we developed new websites that features intuitive design allowing users to access information naturally and effortlessly. This year we focused on delivering innovative designs in line with modern website design trends to breathe life into local government digital hubs. Some of the sites we launched this year include Shire of Upper Gascoyne, Shire of Gnowangerup, Shire of Derby/West Kimberley and City of Busselton Leisure Centre.

Shire of Upper Gascoyne

A recent CouncilConnect subscriber, the Shire of Upper Gascoyne was looking for a new and contemporary website that represented their vast region, (which covers an area of some 46,602 square kilometres).

The homepage showcases the Latest News, Publics Notices and Events Calendar feed to help keep the community informed on Shire activities. The website also features our new Road Report module which allows administrators to mark and draw areas of affected roads on a Google Map, alerting residents and visitors on road conditions.

Shire of Gnowangerup

As another new CouncilConnect client, the Shire of Gnowangerup built a fresh new website that highlights their many tourism icons, including the Stirling Range National Park, which was incorporated as part of the Quick Links design.

We delivered a website that represented their brand and community while displaying important Council information in sophisticated Latest News and Publics Notices feeds, keeping their audience engaged. The Social Media feed has also been implemented on a scenery background with a parallax effect, drawing the audience’s eye to the social media content.

Shire of Derby/West Kimberley

Residing in one of the largest regions in Western Australia, the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley, join us this year as another newly subscribed CouncilConnect client. The Shire’s newly launched website showcases the rich Indigenous culture and community.

The homepage design pays homage to the unique and diverse region, featuring striking photography via the Image Rotator. Importantly, the corporate colours can be adjusted through the Website Accessibility Controls to ensure the website is easily accessible for all.

Busselton Leisure Centre

We welcomed the City of Busselton to CouncilConnect this year with the launch of their Busselton Leisure Centre’s website. The website represents both the Geographe Leisure Centre and Naturalist Community Centre with unique landing pages specific to each centre’s facilities.

The primary homepage utilises the Video Rotator to create an impactful first impression, showcasing their modern facilities and activities on offer.

The launch marks the first of eight websites that Market Creations will deliver in partnership with the City over the next three years. We look forward to launching the City’s corporate website in 2021.
